Greystone Golf Club

Greystone opened in 1991 at Milton, west of Toronto, as one of the original four ClubLink courses, and it is among the earliest work of Doug Carrick — who went on to build Eagles Nest, Osprey Valley and Cobble Beach and is now the most significant Canadian architect since Stanley Thompson. It was cut into the edge of the Niagara Escarpment, which is the making of it.

What it asks of you

A par 72 of 6,864 yards from the back, winding through wooded hills and valleys on the escarpment edge, with a course rating and slope that put it among the more demanding parkland tests in the region. Carrick’s early style is visible: generous landing areas defended by angle rather than by narrowness, greens set against rising ground, and bunkering placed where the good player is aiming. The elevation change makes club selection a genuine question on at least half the holes.

Before you book

Greystone belongs to the ClubLink network, so it is open to members and to visitors booking through the network — considerably easier to play than the private clubs of Toronto and considerably better than most courses that are. Milton is about forty-five minutes west of the city. Full practice facilities on site.
